Always enjoyed the Charter Oak. I have a hard time not putting the AU's in a roll when I see them in pocket change.
I was born and raised in Delaware. There are not a lot of numismatic things you can collect from Delaware. There are no Hard Times or Civil War tokens and only a few medals, merchant tokens and pieces of paper money. The Delaware Quarter was the first of a number of modern pieces. Ironically the statue of Caesar Rodney that is on the obverse of the Delaware quarter is no longer in public view. Vandals threatened to tear it down, because Rodney, who lived until 1784, was a planter in the Dover area who owned some slaves. It was another example of pulling a historic figure out of his time, the 1770s and '80s and projecting modern values upon him. There are no known images of Caesar Rodney. His face was covered with skin cancer and he looked very bad according to contemporary accounts.
In order from best to worst: Delaware, New Jersey, Connecticut, Georgia, Pennsylvania. PA is one of the worst in the whole series.
Wyoming is right "down here too." When I saw that outline of the cowboy on the bucking bronco, I thought that the coin was defective.
I was going to say Pennsylvania as that’s where I currently live. But I had to go with Delaware as I’ve found 3 of the spitting horse variety in the wild.
Perhaps these threads will get to 2007, but I agree WY is the worst of the whole series. They put their license plate on a coin and called it good. So lame.
I just looked up all 50. Wyomings definitely is very bland, but Michigans is without a doubt the worst. It’s literally just outlines. If you weren’t familiar with the shape of the state or surrounding lakes it would just look like a bunch of squiggly lines.
