If you had approximately $1,000 to spend on only 1 coin, which 1 coin would you purchase? Please include why you choose this item and where would you purchase it?
    :secret:

    Thanks, Jack

For me...1878-CC Morgan in MS65 condition.

First year issue...tough in this grade. Always a demand on CC Morgans.

I'd probably go for a 1909-S VDB, because it was the first holy grail coin I learned about as a kid.

Only one coin? Fine sovereign of Elizabeth I (if i can find it for 1000!).

But this question is irrelevant. I don't like spending over $50 on a single coin. Lol

    Either: A Barber Quarter: 1896 S in VG or a 1913 S in AG.
    Where?
    That is a great question.

Definitely the 1909-S VDB. It is the only Lincoln I am missing (excluding he mint errors). However, finding an unc. for $1000 would be a real blessing if I could do it. FYI: My old Red Book (1960 with $1.75 still written inside the cover) list it for $85. If only............

I would have to get the 1877 Indian Head Cent. Only one needed to complete set.

At the moment, I would probably buy a nice Nero sestertius, but that's just because I'm on my Roman kick for the moment. :D In my opinion, the sestertii of Nero are particularly good looking as a whole and I love his tough-looking profile. ;)

If it wasn't Roman, big, and bronze, it would probably be a $20 Gold Liberty because I need one for my Liberty Denomination set.

It would have to be the earliest silver dollar I could buy that was in the best condition.

Never happen, I lost as 2nd bidder on a cleaned AG @ $1,400.

A nice, uncirculated, PCGS certified $20 Gold Double Eagle would be a beautiful addition to help round out my small collection.

Any Flowing Hair denomination coin. Trust me, these are getting HOT.

Or pickup some key date Seated Quarters or Halves. Look for doubled and tripled values by years end.

I'd probably go with a $20 liberty gold coin in about MS63 condition. Pay more attention to eye appeal than to the date.
