I found this dime in my Grandpas collection. It is without clad on both sides. And is 1968 with no apparent mint marks... It definetly weighs less then a regular dime. It is thinner and does not seem to have the outer rim.. Put it next to the silver dime for comparison. What do you think?

That one screams acid bath to me. It's much smaller than the other dime, looks thinner, and slightly mushy. I will see what others say, but it reminds me of a Lincoln cent I have that was soaked in acid until it matched the size of a dime. Likely, it was used to trick old candy machines.

Wouldn't the acid eat the copper faster than the nickel?

    definitely an acid job
If you take it out as soon as the clad is gone then neutralize the acid

Depends on what acid was used.
