Nice pickups. PS - on Morgan green not gold. Had to find a flaw somewhere. Now that 23 I would get re-graded - tough to tell from the pictures but my first thought is it would come back higher than a 62. Assuming it is worth the grading fees - don't know much about peace dollars.
That peace dollar is common date, but worth more to collectors in that old ANA holder. I paid $36 for it.
I think the 1921 Peace dollar in higher grades have potential. They are high relief. I like peace dollars and there are maybe 3-4 in high grade that will set you back but nothing compared to rare Morgans. Get 28, 34-s and 21 in MS and put them away in a safe.
Look at the Gold sticker as a coin which would get a Green sticker in the next grade up. Yeah, it Greens but it wouldn't as a 64. This is a sort of rarity for Morgans, one for which a multitude of small tics and no large ones still add up to an appropriate grade. I bet the person who paid for the slabbing is mad.
What would I HOPE to pay? $25 including shipping. Actually lets make it $15. I don't think this is going to happen but one can hope.
Dunno about him, but I have it as a pretty prototypical XF40, and would cheerfully write you a check - subject to surface approval in-hand - well north of $500 for it. Assuming I had the money, which I don't.
I paid 350. It's got an area at 3-4 o'clock on the obverse that looks like a streak was removed. Other than that the coin looks to me to be AU50 on a good day, XF45 on it's worst. But that's just my opinion on it.
I think the seated dollar has a good chance of coming back in a details slab. There's old hairlines from a wipe in areas of the obverse fields. Too bad if it goes straight it's xf 40 the Morgan I see as a green bean. It's a 64 but the weak strike and the marks keep it out of 64+ or 65 territory so no gold bean
I too feel the seated dollar will fetch an XF rating but I think the graders will be sleeping when the coin comes across their tables and the coin itself will 'straight grade'........as opposed to strait grade which is most ugly........
You're probably right, as Mr. Albanese doesn't hand out gold beans like they're candy, but this one has a legitimate shot in my opinion. It'll be a few weeks before I send another CAC order out, but this one will go with them.
