This one made into an NGC VF-30 holder. It's over graded in that holder, but it's still got good color for the type. This is the Periods Variety, which looks a little more "civilized" than the earlier Chain Cents.
Now this is not my coin, but I identified it as different than described. The interesting thing about it is it has a provenance that goes back 3 years prior to the discovery coin of this variety. This had been identified as S-16 since 1975 and passed through the hands of several extremely highly regarded Copper specialists. https://coins.ha.com/itm/large-cent...amage-pcgs-genuine-good-details/a/1299-3116.s The entire story unfolds in the "Attribute This" thread in US Coins Forum beginning with post #863 where Jack showed a new acquisition of a coin and gave us a shot at attribution (S-16). Searching for comps led to the discovery.
