April is finally over and my checking account is happy it is. I managed to totally destroy my coin budget but gladly picked up several new busties. First, one that I actually ordered in March, but since I didn't pay for it until April it counts. 1830 (not as bright as it looks in pics, but has definitely been dipped.) Then, I ran across this one. Then this one... Finally, I had to have this one (on order--shipped, but not received yet) Of course, I'm currently the high bidder on another one that is closing on Great Collections tonight...Sigh
Seems that's how it goes sometimes. I'll go for a couple of months and not see anything I want, and then Bam, it all comes at once. When you see the coins you need, you have to pull the trigger. I'd say all of those are "better than OK." What's the grade on the 1830? She looks shiny. I absolutely love the die cracks on the 1811. That's one of the classic O-#s. The 1810 might be my favorite of this group, though. Classic, dirty old coin. Love it.
When it comes right down to it, its only money as long as you plan on working you can save up and buy more
I don't buy coins in April. Property taxes, income taxes, estimated taxes, auto insurance 6 month premium, summer vacation flights...
Never worry about the checking account. NEVER!! It is easily replenished. You can make partial payments on other items and catch up later. The coins on the other hand might not come around for a LONG TIME.
Been married for 8 years. She's very understanding. We budget our money quite well. The collection keeps growing, though in recent years, very slowly. Even bidding double or triple estimate is not always a winner. We're both happy and understanding .
Same for me. Spent my April money. Spent my May money. Spent my emergency coin fund That I have only used 3 times in 25 years. So I guess I will now learn a new phrase. "Opportunity cost." James
You seem to be following a pattern that often occurs to me. Not buy for a long time, and then go nuts looking, bidding and buying. All are very nice additions to your collection. Well done.
Guess what was sitting out in plain sight on my front porch when I came home from work today...a priority mail box. Checking on line I was amazed to find that somehow I had managed to sign for it while 15 miles away at the office. Luckily it was still there and I am totally in love with my new 1810.
