GW Medal- Help with ID.

    I think it's one of those series of medals put out as advertising promos in the 1950s or early '60s. Shell Oil did a Presidential series, but this is not one of them- at least not one of the Shell series I'm familiar with. Those had all text on the reverse rather than being two-headed like this one.

    Interesting planchet flaw. This would be gilt bronze or copper, most likely. You asked me about this piece in our PM but I honestly couldn't remember it all that well. I had just stuck it in with the other stuff I was shipping you, without giving it much of a look.

    I looks like a "death token" i've seen in one of my copper books (forget which lol) as to the year minted, that is the question :D still a nice pickup (side note lots of "fakes/restrikes" out there as well)

    Oh, if this were a real Washington funeral medal, I wouldn't have casually given it away! LOL

    It is definitely a mid-20th century thing.
