Are 2016 nickels worth keeping? I just got two boxes of brand new nickels.

Hey Lucky43113 Here's an idea for you. You may not be able to get boxes but I bet there are several businesses that you already do business with I'm guessing that when you are there you could ask for a roll of coin, and they would sell it to you, or give it to you as part of your change. I imagine you could do 10 rolls a week without a blink. maybe 50 rolls (same as a box) if you work at it.
Then roll your leftovers and deposit them at your one and only bank. Deposit them, not exchange them for cash. Then take out the $ on a different day.
Well, maybe it will work, maybe not, but it couldn't hurt to try.
If it is a small town, which I'm guessing it is if you only have one bank, you could also develop a relationship with one of the business owners who already uses a lot of coin and see if they will add a box per week to their order for you. The down side with this plan would be if the business gets their coin from the same bank you deposit at you may wind up getting your rolls back again. But you can give it a try and see how it works out.
Also, have a buddy who works in the next town over? maybe they could get a box for you?

    not really, but....
you can sell unopened, uncirculated business strike rolls on ebay for a small small profit.
if you want to speculate and you can afford the time, you can go through them for errors. Whew... I don't have the patients or the eyes for that but you hit a new, previously unheard of monster, like a double die, you could hit big pay-dirt.
You may be able to trade a few with other collectors who are on the opposite side of the country and so get the other mint mark. D for P and P for D.
neither of these will move a whole box any time soon but you can move a few. also spend a few. Just redeposit the rest.

That sounds good. Do you think that blank planchets are a possibility?

They are. I pulled a blank dime from a full box of 2015s last year. It's harder for nickels i assume since the edges would probably look the same.

Do you know how that happens?

Wow that's crazy. There are 40K people in my town and there are literally 4 banks right next to the super market and many more around town... Definitely above 15

Ok guys I was looking through cents and came across this thick coin. Any guesses? I got excited because it is really thick making it a possibility to find a flying eagle cent.

Nice. I like finding older Canadians.
    I haven't found a FE. The oldest I've found is 1885.
