of course I can't find the "before" pic's lol (i know i posted this here when i 1st won it lol) so you will have to settle for the "after" pics.. just know the coin was near black with crud and junk.. I can't take this any further without stripping the patina and putting it in the "cleaned" catagory... I will say she's in much better shape under the crud then i expected
Found it. Looks like it became a decade newer after restoration? https://www.cointalk.com/threads/hehehe-i-got-it-d-1783-washington-cent-d-d-d.396528/
Thanks @Matthew Kruse ! Now I can compare the two. I conclude that there is a slight difference between the two. "It is what it is". Better than what I have for this series which is a big fat "0" for coins. Nice find!
If you can show the before and after, how about outline the process you used to clean it. It would be a nice learning experience for many of us.
I do very basic conservation. place it in a muslin teabag in boiling distilled water for 5-10 minutes then a short soak in verdicare... maybe a little work with qtip and toothpick if the verdigris is thick and chunky but not for most coins... anything more extensive then that I save for NGC developed this method mostly for the removal of "renassance wax" which far to many collectors of old used to preserve their copper...
