1973-D Kennedy

    This 1973-D Kennedy half came straight out of a mint set a few years ago. It's obvious there are fingerprints on the obverse. Why only the obverse and how did they get there? I would think they would be untouched until they got packaged.

    Nice coin @furham. It appears to me that perhaps someone placed it in a single sided album page and pushed it in the slot with their fingers. That was my first thought.

    A not too careful person doing the packaging. My Father in Law had a quarter in a 1973 set with a large thumbprint on it

    Apparently folks didn't wear gloves. I have a Ike dollar that is superb except for the fingerprint on his cheek.

    Must have happened prior to, or during the packaging process. What a shame.
