Does it appeared cleaned?

The coin is a sold EF sharpness. It has a strong, bold “WE.” The modern VF-30 will have the “WE” just barely readable.

I still grade by old-school ANA grading standards. I thought it was borderline 30/40 but went with the lower grade because the obverse leaves are rather worn and the W is incomplete at upper left. It's a shame that there are no set standards any longer, only "market grading" and "gradeflation". On the bright side, in another 20 years it may make AU-50!

 

Trust me when I tell you this, you never got the mint luster back. “New skin.” Lol. You don’t get the luster back when the mint flow lines have been disturbed, those don’t just grow back.

 

I never said anything about mint luster, i thought we were talking about circulated coins like the one in the OP. Yeah i know nothing ever replaces mint luster, I'm not an idiot

 

Well that’s the first thing that goes when you start rubbing it. And you don’t have to be an idiot to not know it. So if it’s worth anything, I don’t think you’re an idiot. Just maybe a little touchy to think that.

 

Well update,
I decide to pass on it after the bids got to over 60 once you added shipping. Had a gentleman that kept bidding me up and wasn't sure where it was going to stop and how bad he wanted it. Once we got up that high for that particular cleaned coined I would rather spend the money on a "graded" coin. I will keep looking for decent album examples.
