Like the energizer bunny, the bad 1881-CC's keep on going, and going... And where does this one go from there... Best, Jack.
Lol I bet its a really good "conversation piece" as the seller stated "Yeah, I bought a fake coin on purpose on eBay."
Thanks to fakers I do not purchase online any longer. My mother used to say, "God will get you." What did your mother fakers say to you?
at least being in a PCGS holder you have some guarantee, in blows my mind that they would even certify this as genuine coin, I am sure they have had enough experience with fakes !
its easy to check, so I am sure thats the first thing you would do regardless I always check the number to authenticate on my GOLD purchases.
No PCGS logo or NFC chip logo on the bottom left of the front side. This means that the slab was made by the same manufacturer (I think) but not official for PCGS. NFC logo on the back of the slab, but no PCGS logo or NFC logo on the front is an easy way to call out these fake slabs. First thing I look for nowadays.
Yes, it violates the Hobby Protection Act unless it has COPY stamped on it in the correct size. I'm sure the the slab violates trademark/copyright law. And ebay prohibits replica coins.
My guess is the counterfeiters intentionally left the PCGS logo off the obv lower corner. The issue with copyright infringement actually hinges on if the owner filed for protection in the country the suspect items are being produced. Although the counterfeiters appear to be poor Numismatists they may be smarter in legal matters...
Yes, but the secret service and whatever other body has other things to do, and let's be real, the number of fakes out there are impossible to comprehend.
