Hey everyone so I can across this coin I couldn't find the date so I decided to toss it on the scale to see if it was copper and the weoght is throwing me off because it's 3.32- 3.34grams and I don't know enough about thick planchet or wrong metal/domination... any info or thoughts about this I'd love to hear it.
I think that the corrosion adds to the weight. Should be as high as 3.240g. Here it is enlarged. Please wash your hands!
I see other letters I believe and whe. I zoom in on the neckline to the L in liberty looks like there's a trench/ Crack line
Before speculating on what it might or might not be, you should calibrate your scales, following it's instructions and using an item of exactly the weight it asks for.
What would be the best way of removing junk and glue like I'm not sure what to get when I'm at Walmart, I have been done the paint thinner aile but I haven't been able to find acetone by itself anywhere... I have a 73 penny with the observe side being punch through with the pillars showing threw Lincoln face but there is glue or something on it the 73 also has what I believe to also be an lamanation error but the glue is in the way... I just don't want to ruin it because the coin looks to be in pretty awesome shape, and so since I don't really know what's best use to remove debris and what not I haven't tried to clean it.
Better idea: 1. Spend it as it is not an error. 2. Save it to show others what an error DOESN'T look like.
You need to learn the different types of true errors. https://www.error-ref.com/ Go to this website and choose the Planchet errors. There you will find the information on thick planchets. Yours Cent is not an error. Just full of junk that adds a bit of weight.
