First "cent" symbol?

Is this the first cent symbol ever on a US coin?

I think you are correct. Not sure about commemoratives, but I think on circulating coinage.

 

Actually, I just remembered the C has been present on at least one other denomination.

 

The capped bust coins had a "C."

Is it also the first to have the denomination in Arabic numerals?

 

I wonder when the cross on the cent symbol was first used. The C isn't uncommon back to the beginning of the US dollar.

The use of the cent symbol has largely fallen into disuse since the mid-20th century as inflation has resulted in very few things being priced in cents in any currency. It was included on US typewriter keyboards, but has not been adopted on computers.[1]

Duh. I went back through US coins in my head and stopped at Liberty Seated I guess. Maybe I missed others.

 

Shield nickel and two-cent piece; I overlooked those the first time.

Yeah, lots of them. Presidential and American Innovation dollars have $1 on them. Brain fart on my part.

 

And all the copper before them. (1/100, 1/200)

 

I can't come up with another use, either, unless it showed up on a pattern.
