Yea, they are.... Which leads me to my next question: Mr @green18 How much did you pay for your Cincy commems??? A 3 coin set is around $900 in today $$$.... Certainly these weren't ALWAYS pricey????
I paid a tad more for a three coin set (FUN) two years ago. And as far as I know, they've always been high.
I love the top one, but I'd take the bottom one too..... I haven't seen many of these, but, those are the best I've seen yet!
Must admit also you made me learn something new today.... as I was not familiar with who he was. I was also not aware of the coin. I don't collect them so.... I think I may have 5 -10 total in my collection . They aren't there by choice other then one for my type set.
Pulled them off the bay.... there are most probably more toned ones also ....found 2 I liked and copied the images to make you drool lol.
Same here, I've a total of 3 commems.... Cincinnati, Pilgrim and this one- sub-par photo, it has nice blues , greens and some reds...... The commem market is well, IMO, a losing proposition..... But according to Mr @green18 RIGHT NOW is the time to be buying commems
I have the Maryland for my type set. As a modern the buffalo's in both strikes. I do have a Columbian like yours, I did have a coup more that were sold or traded. I do however have some modern ' s from sets. Laying around here.
That top one is really nice.... the colors are perfect for the piece. Really love art deco period , I have several original Erie ' s on my walls here. To me it was so ahead of its time.
I remember you posting those medals a while back..... I read a good story in coin world about the transition from Nuevo to Deco .... Interesting stuff
It just amazed me that this time frame was so ahead of its time. In design as well as art. And AGAIN if we revisited that mind frame it be a heck a lot better coinage then dead presidents .
Another point in this era was a country whom just went through on in the middle of the great depression .
If you look at craftsmenship in buildings and houses between then and now, it's a whole different ballgame, back then people took pride in their work to make it beautiful and last.... Now it cheap and ugly and all about $$$....& i'm far from an architectural buff....
