Hello all - I've just been reading through Sayle's Ancient Coin Collecting volume for Byzantines, and he mentions two articles from The Celator that look interesting, and could add to a project I am working on. I was wondering if anyone had some back issues who could scan the articles for me (or loan me the magazine if you were so inclined...). I'm looking for:

Warren G. Moon & Paul Plass, "Influence of Plotinus led to 'hard style' in coinage," vol. 3.11 (Nov. 1989).
Christopher T. Connell "Icon of Christ on coins of John VIII is remarkable for its abstract imagery," vol. 5.12 (Dec. 1991)

Thank you all for the help!

Sorry. The few I have (given to me by chrsmat71) are not that old.

Ken Dorney Yea, I'm Cool That Way...

Wayne will usually send you the article directly for free, with instructions that they not be published or used commercially. Just ask him. He will likely give you a copy of the article. I dont remember when he sold the magazine, so you may have to ask Kerry as well.

@FitzNigel, I have an almost complete run of the Celator, and will check if I have these issues when I get home. Would be happy to send you scans or photocopies.

Now this is a nice thread compared to some of the ones we've had recently. Polite requests, polite and helpful responses... makes me proud to be a CT member.

Don't want to post a "me too", but I would love to get a copy of:

Christopher T. Connell "Icon of Christ on coins of John VIII is remarkable for its abstract imagery," vol. 5.12 (Dec. 1991)

I'll be sure to share the love if I find a copy. I'll reach out to Mr. Sayles while waiting on ancientcoinguru. (You guys are awesome - thank you)

I'm so sorry everyone! I only own the years 1994-2012 (v.8-v.26) when publication of the Celator ended. If anyone needs an article from one of those years, please PM me, and I will be happy to scan or photocopy.

I apologize @FitzNigel and @Quant.Geek for getting your hopes up.:sorry:

I can recommend your local public library. Just ask their ILL (Interlibrary Loan) department to borrow the issue you need. This is a free service at most libraries.

I already checked jstor - the Celator is not in there, unfortunately. Still waiting to hear back from Mr. Sayles

Just received this e-mail from Wayne G. Sayles:

We are currently in the process of posting all of the Celator issues online with open access at http://vcoinscommunity.com/ the issues you cite below are presently being scanned and eventually all of the issues will be available online.

So I may be waiting a while, but this looks like excellent news to me!
