For those of you that remember, Steve has had a thing for goats in the past (even to his detriment over on CCF). This captivation with goats must be infectious. A couple days ago I posted a coin with rampant goats reverse. Now here is another coin featuring a goat which I got from JA a couple months ago. This one is on a rather small flan at 10mm, but the detail is superb. AEOLIS, AIGAI AE 10 OBVERSE: Laureate head of Apollo right REVERSE: Head and neck of a goat, AIΓAE behind Struck at Aigai, 300-200BC .9g, 10mm SNG von Aulock 1593; SNG Copenhagen 1 Aigai, was an ancient Greek, later Roman, city and bishopric in Aeolis. Aegae is mentioned by both Herodotus and Strabo as being a member of the Aeolian dodecapolis. It was also an important sanctuary of Apollo. Aigai had its brightest period under the Attalid dynasty, which ruled from nearby Pergamon in the 3rd and 2nd century BC. The remains of the city are located near the modern village of Yuntdağı Köseler, Turkey, and at a rather high altitude almost on top of Mount Gün (Dağı). Post your coins from Aeolis or any with goats.
We regret to inform the Cointalk community that @Bing has been quarantined by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention after contracting a rare form of A.G.V, also known as Ancient Goats Virus. We believe the subject may have contracted it from a Mr. @stevex6 . Authorities are now hunting for Mr Stevex6. If you see him, keep your distance, use a tranquilizer gun to subdue subject, and call your local authorities. This concludes this Emergency Public Service Announcement from the people who like to dress in space suits and green gloves (Center For Disease Control and Prevention)

That is a great little coin. I don't have one from Aigai, but here's an equally tiny obol from Kelenderis, another town that really liked goats. CILICIA, Kelenderis Circa 425-400 BC AR Obol 0.76g, 9.6mm SNG von Aulock 5635 O: Pegasus forepart right with curved wing. R: KE – Δ, goat kneeling right, looking left.
I think I might be coming down with Ancient Goats Virus too. I'd buy one right now but I think I need a rest after buying 7 ancient silver coins over the last 30 days. I'll just buy one at the beginning of next month. Please keep posting your examples as I need inspiration for when I go to buy mine. I still don't know which one I'm going to get, so your pictures definitely help.
