The scale of Roman rarity states Empress Aelia Flaccilla as scarce. Historically she was the wife of Theodosius the Great. Mother of Honorius, she raised her children on the love of God and Christianity. I read that she's venerated as a saint in Greece and that her pictures are shown in churches. The first coin below was struck in Antioch, and the face of the Empress is unusually clear .RIC-ANT- 62. The second coin was struck in Constantinople. It has a crossed Rho on reverse. I still need to clean it a little bit. RIC Cons 82.
Obviously I REALLY like the first coin, the second a bit too worn for my tastes, but both examples are missing from my collection...Congrats @7Calbrey !! I'll be interested to 'hear' what @Mat---that well known 'ladies man'--- has to say.
They are normally in crappy condition like the second, but that first one is really nice, and a clear name to boot! Nice find.
Aelia Flaccilla isn't too scarce. I've had six in the last year alone. Finding a good one of her actually is. The first one for sure is nice. Not sure if the green is BD or just green spots, but looks BD to me in the pics. Might wanna take care of that.
