I could see that working as long as it was agreed to by Native Ameicans. I would say to let each Indian Nation nominate and vote for who they would want on the dollar coins. I have my doubts that it would ever happen. The U.S. government would come back with...(example: We already compensate the Native Americans when they turn a certain age for what they had to endure generations ago, so why should we have to put them on our coins.) I for one can think of alot of different reasons why they should be part of our coinage. This is a subject that I could sit and write at novel length so to spare you an endless post I'll leave this as my opinion.

I had thought about the different nations' view as well and think they could pull it off if it meant truly representing their heritage. Of course the U.S. Government would be the big issue. They have a history of going back on their word as Native Americans go. Unfortunate but true.
Perhaps a bi-etallic with a Great White Buffalo would be a good place to start?

i truly believe they will stop minting the sacs. the mint will be made to realize that the idea of minting the sacs again in addition to the prezzies is a stupid idea. just look how many 2001's are still sitting in fed vaults because of poor acceptance by the public. the tax payers are going to start making the mint know that they refuse to keep wasting money on coins that aren't circulating! imho

I'm really trying hard to avoid collecting anything that isn't silver or gold. If they completely stopped minting Sacs I might change my mind about this set, but I definitely don't want to start a collection that is open-ended and still in production.
