I got it from ebay. I kind of like it. Does "SP" stand for "special" and why don't they just call it MS? Unless they pulled it out of an SMS package how do they know it is an SMS?

I submitted these to PCI at the FUN Show when JT Stanton was acting president. I only wanted to submit the half dollars, so JT took them out of the Mint cases and gave the rest of the coins back to me. Note that these are graded "MS". I guess it's a matter of choice regarding how the grade is listed.

PCGS called them MS up to a couple of years ago. It's fairly easy to tell the difference between the SMS and Regular issue. Even though not a proof, the SMS coins have proof qualities that stand out.

Yep! PCGS used to call my avatar coin "MS" but then changed to SP. This one is graded PCGS MS69.
