I've vote for lowering the mintage to 25,000 since the 90,000 allocated for the 2015 versions never did sell out.
25k would be nice, but we're already too close. If they haven't made 75k yet, lowering the mintage to 50k with no HHL, would probably sell it out in less than a week. If they've already made 75k, we'll see them for sale for over a year and the mint can deal with selling 5 per week. Strange, isn't it? Not too many years ago, before crazy low mintages, like 17k for a pres doll, 75k would have looked darn low and been an instant sell out. Well 75k isn't 17k, but 75k is going to be a winner for our grandkids, if not ourselves.
Coin Vault was actually selling the 2015 sets (groups of 10) for 149.00 last night! That is less than issue price. (14.90 each instead of 14.95). Kind of surprised, I don't even see them that cheap on ebay.
Yeah, probably dumping the junk that wouldn't even grade 68. When it comes to large sellers that get coins certified, it's a given the raw sets are substandard.
Hmm, the obverse looks right, but the reverse looks like the devices (raise areas) are frosted and the fields (flat areas) look mirrored, like a regular proof. Is that the way they are or is it just the lighting?
I received my 2016 Coin and Currency today. I purchased two. Currency Number 010506 and 010507. One Interest Note: 1. One coin has crack or scratch thru last S in United States on reverse. 2. On both coin there's a mark below the FDR on the reverse.
I took the coin out of its' capsule to shoot it and the edge lettering is 'B' oriented. I don't know if that's true for all of them and I ain't gonna mess with the packaging on the other sets.
Getting the currency with 10000 number is pretty lucky. Not so lucky for me, but mine did have a repeating number series 00009090.
