Calling @Paddy54.... I need some edumacation please. I did a little coin swap with a fellow CT member because I happen to be a lover of all coins of the seated variety..... This one is noted by PCGS as "RPD FS-301".... I have been able to discern that "RPD" stands for a re-punched date. Where do I find this variety bible? The one that tells me what FS-301 represents?
For any PCGS coin that has the variety on the label. You can find it on coinfacts. Look for the highlighted blue "Show related coins and variety's." https://www.pcgs.com/coinfacts/coin/1845-25c-rpd-fs-301/395928#cfCollapseVarities And look at that your coin is the poster child on PCGS. Quick read over the references, Cherrypickers guide calls it a large 5 over a small 5. But NGC and PCGS call it an 1845/845. Looking at the photos of yours on PCGS the underlying 845 is pretty evident.
