Sigh...I have a friend who sends me lots of coin photos because he is not comfortable with CT. His latest is that he thinks he has a 1982 D copper small date cent. I disagree. I put a line on one of his photos under the foot of the 2. Not sure how careful I was. Just wanted to get opinions...could do a poll, but nah.

This one is Large date. I will ad a pic when at my PC in a few, I can tell by the 2 on a small date and 8 but the 2 will curl more and the 8 has a very noticable smaller hole up top.
    this pic is small date.

    Send him this:

I usually go by the top of the 8. Looks more like a snowman.

The 8 gives it away. Your friend has a large date 100%.

That’s is definitely a large date. The large date is straight and the small date is curved.

Because he felt people on here disrespected him. I didn't think so, but I am not able to account for people's feelings.

I think I can understand how he feels. I've gotten burned by a couple of people on here when I first started asking questions and/or showing off finds (none of those people are on this thread so far), and it wasn't a particularly pleasant experience. After that, I started trying to make sure that every 'i' was dotted and every 't' crossed and then also tried to thicken up my skin whenever I posted a find or had a question.

I consider it just part of the costs of interacting in here. :)

When I first came on CT recommended by Fred after talking to the Mint which they suggested to contact him about a coin which was, yessss, tampered with. One of my first posts here was a dipped penny. I thought it was a golden nugget lol. I took to heart some comments but many help out and teach.
I have learned that I post what I like. I try to read more before posting. Some yes just point out the negatives but we all have someone in our every lives like that. As many can see I do comment but I hold back many times. I have asked to be deleted when first started, but the mods here are very encouraging and helpful. I was at the beginning of looking through dad’s coins and yes most are Lincolns but hey, I like Lincolns lol.
Will you get some answers “it’s worth about a penny”! YEP! Lol! Will someone try to correct terminology? YEP! And that’s ok, but it’s not like anyone is not smart if you say face instead of obverse. After all, it is heads or tails! :D:wideyed::smuggrin::rolleyes::nailbiting:o_O:cool:. LOL! Just my thoughts.

Yes. But if it weighs 2.5 grams is minted on a copper plated zinc planchet and that is one of the 7 business varieties minted. Millions were minted.
