So I don't know to much about the 1776-1976 bicentennial Half dollars but out of a full box of half I came across.... 97 bicentennials, 1, 1964 half weighs 12.38grams so that's the 90% silver half, and I came across 1-1969 half weighing in at 11.29grams and making it 40%I believe, I'm not 100% how it all works with the tolerance, I just started learning all the different weighs that each denomination has . And I came across this 1974 which also weighs 11.40grams which I'm not sure about because I have a few 74s coming in at like 11.16grams-11.22grams, so is the 1974 one that I showed coming in at 11.40grams is normal?
That is easily checked by looking at the 3rd side. A clad will show copper and the cupro nickel in the reading. By the way that 74 is destroyed. Nice find on the silvers.
Nice finds on the '64 and '69. You've got one 90% silver and one 40% silver there, as you suspected. The Bicentennials aren't really worth much of a premium but can be fun for tipping folks in restaurants, etc. The '74 half is, as mentioned, damaged.
Not worth anything?it's %90 silver at least melt around $9-$10 same goes for the 69 but it's only %40 still $3-$4,the 1974 is 50 cents.
Absolutely. Except for a few of the specialties, such as the accented hair, a few of the silver proofs, the 1998s Matte Proof, and the Reverse Proofs.
Let me see if I can put a little different spin on the subject. CFP (CoiningForProfit) here is a link to the index page at https://www.usacoinbook.com/ The coins you came across are circulated but still have value in the precious metals content. Sometimes that's better than a shiney coin. If you decide you don't want to save for precious metals content, I'd wager the majority of readers here would be glad to double your money on those types of coins. Welcome to the cointalk site, stay awhile learn a lot maybe even some $$ change.
If you are this for a profit, as your handle suggests, you'd better do a lot more research for what is worth more than face value. good luck.
Getting silver for face value counts as a pretty good profit, IF you can find the half dollar boxes to buy.
My phone has always had a habit of changing my r’s to t’s and I don’t always catch it. Darn replacement phone.
