1982 dime p mint mark possible error

    Found this from local store thought it was interesting haven't seen this before what's y'all thoughts

    Damaged,looks like it took a bath in some kind of chemical,still 10 cents.

    That's crazy ty wonder what could just take the rim off like that and not damage the rest of coin still learning a lot love this forum everyone has been very helpful makes it easier what to actually look for

    Acid can do that quite easily.

    Acid will dissolve the softer copper in the center easier/faster.

    The core of the planchet, thus the coin, is softer than the surface, and when exposed to any type of acid, like vinegar, orange juice, etc. it will attack and eat the core more than the surface material, thus what you have.

    Nitric acid if you are in a hurry. Ferric chloride takes a little longer ( you can use it to make printed circuit boards). Jim
