No, the coin has no value above face and neither does your poll (on either thread).

By the way, did you know that if you accidentally post a thread twice that all you need to do to have one of them deleted is to click on "Report" and notify the Mods? I would have done it for you, but I've grown tired of doing this for such mistakes week in and week out.

    Your poll serves no purpose.

I am new to this and trying to figure it out so I can help my daughter with this new interest she has found in coins. There is no reason to be rude. People make mistakes.

I'll apologize on behalf of the rudeness and arrogance of others. We all start somewhere in this hobby. I am by no means an expert but feel free to send me a message with any questions and I'll help you find answers. You can't let a few jerks turn you and your daughter off. My son and I collect together. It's fun and gives us another thing we can share. I hope you and your daughter find the same rewards bonding over coin collecting.

Please learn from the CT members before you start calling people rude!! That will never get you anywhere BUT if you ask for information and accept it as a learning tool you will be completely accepted with so many people willing to help you!!

    Hi Beth,
Welcome to the forum. What you have is a coin that has just seen a lot of use over the years but no value over face value. paddyman is a good source to find the links you might want to visit in your journey of collecting coins. It's a wonderful hobby and always nice to be shared with a child. Also, as you get to know the site better you will learn who is positive and who is not, but also feel free to P.M. the people you get to know in their different knowledge of specific coins and areas of collecting. A purchase of a copy of the Red Book of coins is a few dollars well spent and one you can read up on, on different series of coins, errors, varieties, mintages, etc. Have fun!

I'm getting so tired of people with thin skin! I didn't say anything rude. I just made a matter-of-fact comment about the poll.

A-5.....who in the heck elected you to represent me? Just because you're from DC, don't presume that you speak for anyone but yourself. Maybe you should be impeached.

That's awesome she found an interest in coins. I wish I started when I was younger instead of at 30. I also wish my grandpa taught me more about them rather than just give me some. Better yet, I wish one my parents was involved with me! I hope you both start learning and collecting. I started with US coins, a dozen books, and then now collect world coins.

Always cool when a young one takes an interest in coins... I was 5 years old when I stumbled upon my Grandpa's pennies and brought home 163 wheat cents... 43 years later, I'm still at it - and more into it than ever!

As for the rudeness, sorry about your experience. I'm fairly new here myself, so I can relate. We're all only human indeed... take care and hope your daughter's interest will grow!

Don't really see anything rude in the first few replies. After all, the poll does not really make sense indeed. Some of the later posts however ... well, maybe it is too hot in some southern states these days. ;)

Thanks. And, by the way, how awesome is it he got his daughter involved in coin collecting?? I wonder if there's a hobby where the male to female ratio is worse?

One of my kids likes coins so far.
I gave him a Walking Liberty Half dollar and standing liberty quarter. He likes the older coin designs ... i wonder where he gets that from ?
