Time for the reveal. I really like the looks of this coin. I was with everyone else thinking that it should be a few points down on the scale. I wonder if it got a bump higher for the pedigree?
It has been said before that quite a few coins with that Stack's W 57th St Collection pedigree are optimistically graded.
The pedigree may have given it a bump. This was part of the material that was in the back room which was “selectively shown,” although this no great rarity.
The more I look at it, the more I like it! No matter the pedigree or the grade, it is now part of the “BuffaloHunter’s East 2nd St Collection”
All things considered, that may be one of the most accurately graded pieces from that collection. After all, most people guessed some version of very fine. I once owned an 1891 Seated Quarter from that collection. The coin just barely had the details of a very fine but was slabbed choice extremely fine 45.
