I had never seen this before, but I really liked that train. So I got it. F08EF076-37AA-4BFF-8927-1E1B70AD2D51.jpeg 4ED28E5A-EC47-42C5-9773-DA6F88E536E5.jpeg

My absolute favorite type of proof coin is strong frosted devices, deep liquid mirrors, and just a touch of blue haze to make the fields look like deep space. Enjoy!

    Agreed.

Even without the blue, sometimes they still absorb the light - where does it go? Here I like the contrast with the cameo on Monticello, which barely changes as the background goes from bright to black.

    For the Jefferson aficionados.

A "slightly damaged " proof on the left.

I mean, I know this is from the moonlight mint, but what am I looking at? Did he take original Jefferson commems and overstamp them with the Schlag design?

    Not Moonlight Mint.

    Landis Studios. Ron Landis overstrikes.

That makes sense, Landis is the one with those dies, but I thought he was shutting down his business after he issued the gold Jefferson. I must have misunderstood.

As for posting a proof coin, I have a Reverse Proof.

Is that toning along the obverse rim? Very nice - I love that look.

Yes but unfortunately shows a bit of the later die stage, there are light radial lines.

Ah, a combination. I think it works well together - almost feathered. A good look, even if feathering went out in the 80's...
