    Large die chip making bowtie larger. #1 is flexing. and not sure what is going on next to the 8. Snap_010.jpg Snap_011.jpg Snap_012.jpg Snap_013.jpg Snap_014.jpg Snap_015.jpg Snap_016.jpg Snap_017.jpg Snap_018.jpg

    Wouldn't that be a "Tie Chip"! :p

    @5150rider707 Might be from the same die. The tie, the 1 and the 8 all look the same.

    For a coin minted 65 years ago, it still has some original shine to it. Nice.

    @Inspector43 Sure looks like it!

    Any idea what the marks are next to the 8?

    Damage. PMD. I hope this helps. ;)

    I don't think so. I have to get mine out and look closer, but I wouldn't expect both to have the same damage.

    I got rolls of coins from the bank back in those days and I still have some.

    I don’t see any way they would have the same PMD either.
    They look like edges of an 8 due to their shape and spacing.

    As I was looking for some similar chips, I found 4 1958D's with the same dot in the location of the tie. It may be an early stage of that particular die chip. I have 4 of these. 1958 D Dot.jpg
