Charlotte FTW! Congrats, she is beautiful. I'm still looking for a $3 — any $3 — for my gold type set. (I'm looking for a lot of things. It's a bit of a problem )
The three dollar princess is already on my radar after my $10 Liberty head and $10 Indian that got last week, cant go wrong with GOLD in any form
Time for the reveal. This is a fantasy piece that exists only on my computer. Although Three Dollar Gold Piece dies were sent to Charlotte for coinage in 1854, the mint bosses chose not to make any of those coins. That would be the only year that Charlotte would have to make the $3 denomination. The Dahlonega Mint used their dies to make 1,120 pieces. It is one of the rarer and most desirable Dahlonega Mint issues. The survival rate was fairly high, however. About 300 of them are known. The host coin for my "1854-C $3 coin" was my 1854-D coin. This is graded AU-55, CAC.
