Not to be a pessimist, but the marks on her chin and lips already make me think it's as high as it will go - and possibly over graded.

PCGS is notoriously lax and forgiving on their Peace Dollars. Technical definition says it's a 64+ possibly 65 - but the gouges on the face preclude anything higher.

This is a technical 66 and in an NGC MS66 holder currently. IMO it's a strong 66, but the slight chatter in the field and the mark in the rim above TRUST prevent it from being a 66+ and the strike is not perfect (see the slightest faids in her hair) that would preclude the strike from ever getting a 67 grade.

Yeah - if you got a 65+ from PCGS be happy with it.
    It is a pretty coin!

That mark above "ONE" on the reverse looks like a significant dig to me, too. Is it actually incuse, or just surface discoloration?

Beautiful coin, though, without a doubt.

Nice coin. Leave well enough alone.

The "+" to my mind originates with the absolutely brilliant luster for a Peace Dollar, given for eye appeal rather than technical merit. Yes, the price doubles into MS66 - over a "normal" 65 - but you're still talking about the second most-common Peace Dollar in MS66. 1925 (at least by PCGS numbers) is by far the most common Peace Dollar in 65 or better, by percentage of the total graded. 20% of the 1925-P Population is 65 or above.

If it's all those pictures say it is, that's better than 65, and the + means they know it. You must understand, they're just full of themselves, sometimes.

With the high price jump, I'd say it's worth a shot. But really I agree with the grade as is.

I leave it be right where it is , the main reason is you may loose the + .Besides if the price jump is double at 66 do you believe for one minute they are going to give you the up grade? No you're not Modern Coin Mart, You are small potatoes and once they have your fee's you're done in their eyes.

Well, it doubles from $200 to $400+; it's about as cheap as you can get a Peace in MS66, close by 1923-P. All this one needs is to be plunked down in front of the right buyer to fetch near-66 money, anyway, because of the luster.

    Thanks for the opinions!!

No matter the grade, she's one nice Peace Dollar. As a matter of fact, one of the best in eye appeal in my collection.

If I did anything with that one it would be sending it to CAC.

Exactly!! It won't grade higher but they may knock it down a notch.

As long as you got it a good price then leave it as it is cause I agree with others that you might loose that grade to a lesser grade. Also I see it is nice luster and but there are many little scratches on the obverse.

Too many marks for a 66 the luster is all that gives it a plus. Send it to cac instead it will never go higher than it is

  20. That really is a nice coin regardless if you choose to upgrade or not!
