What's fraudulent about it? He can ask any price he wants.

Life is already short, John... of you stress over every other arguably questionable, or pitifully stupid ebay listing, it'll be a lot shorter.

What's the problem with it? Am I missing something?

$600 for a coin that's not even worth 1/1000th of that? C'mon man!

I'm not stressed... and I don't stress. Just reporting something which should anger anyone with a conscience.

The coin in the listing is worth about 35 cents.

Absolutely, positively nothing wrong with that, either legally or under eBay rules. Caveat emptor.

    There's nothing to report, though.

I've got a conscience but I am not worrying about this, likely one of thousands of similar offers tonight on eBay. No one is questioning the authenticity of the coin -- and the seller is making no representation of the value. He can list it for $60,000 if he wants.

I wonder how many of these listings that seem unbelievable are money laundering, although probably not this one from a bike parts seller. Would you buy a Stator for your Harley from a coin shop? Didn't think so.

You know, Desertgem, I have never thought of some of these seemingly idiotic listings as money laundering. But they sure could be used for that....

This is laughable. Nothing illegal, wrong, etc with this listing. Why are you reporting it for fraudulent listing?

Offer him 35 cents for it, provided he will ship it for free.

His shipping is $8... but I may offer him 35 cents for it as you suggested since he's such a (insert your favorite expletive here).

And if you aren't careful he might just accept, and make a couple bucks off of you cause of his shipping fees.

I certainly can understand your feelings, but this doesn't anger me in the least (and yes, I do have a conscience). Anyone, if such a person exists, so foolish enough to be willing to pay such a ridiculous price thinking the coin possess such value, would be digging their own grave, and doing so by their own choice. Offerings such as this are really of very little risk to new collectors/buyers; it is ones that appear to offer a would-be great and highly profotable "deal" or nearly unbelievable price that are infinitely more dangerous.

I have seen in my other hobbies where a listing is five times the selling price as opposed to buying direct from the manufacture. The manufacture includes shipping which could be several hundred dollars. The item itself is in the thousands and anyone can purchase it directly. You have got to do a little homework before you any make any buying decision.
