I can't see a hit mark or scratch near the 1. Can anyone else? Would this be an abrasion or polish flaw?
I don't think, at least from what I can see, damage is the cause, and agree with, most likely, a blister or something along those lines. The gereral quality of such coins was so low that such anomalies, regardless of cause, are far from uncommon.
Yes, I have noticed that the mid 1980's on up are not great quality coins in the cents. They are made so cheap now that even the new ones are not stamped as clearly and with as much detail as older ones were.
Oh, Sheila! There is such a simple answer to it all. You see, the "9" was drunk, and he was trying to draw another beer from the tap when the bartender wasn't looking. He kept pulling and pulling on the tap, but nothing came out. The drunken "9" didn't realize that he should have been pushing instead of pulling. That is how it got bent. Chris
