My new Walking Liberty type coin. Also happens to be a semi-key date. After 20 or more votes in the poll, I'll reveal the grade.
I don't collect these coins, and have never owned a graded example, but I think it just barely makes the cut for gem - I think it is MS65.
AU58 I was thinking it's a MS63 with a weak strike but I think that's wear on the forearm, head, and breast of the eagle.
Gash is a little harsh, but there are a couple of "nicks" midway down on the obverse that would keep it from gem IMO.
Weak strike? Now where I learned to grade....and look at her hand and fingers....just one area that I look at on walkers.
I think They might be. Then again, I dunno. Judging from the slightly iridescent looking areas and that little halo around them, I’d guess it’s a toning anomaly from local contamination of that one little area (something like a sneeze spot, perhaps)?
Of course we're looking at an image that is probably 4" across. I'd bet in hand the slight nicks are barely visible.
The pix are zoomable if you click on them (at least in my browser). I’ll do the reveal soon, after two more votes in the poll.
When you see her hand and fingers as this specimen shows... that should be a key focus on grade. Not a weak strike...not with the details showing on this specimen. The hand of a ms 65 Walker.
Eh. Close enough. Click the spoiler if you’ve already voted and want to satisfy your curiosity. Spoiler: The answer lies within https://www.pcgs.com/cert/45620755
