I am not sure what the correct name of this item is...but it is used to clamp the staples on the 2 x 2's for one's coin collection. It looks like a hammer with a flat end that clamps down. I am looking for one on Amazon and forgot what it is actually called. If anyone knows a site or proper name for this item; it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

After stapling I just flatten them with a tap of a hammer so they lay flat against the cardboard.

Everyone repeat after me............"flat cinch" stapler.

@Jason Hoffpauir , I think I know the type of stapler you're thinking of, but I don't think it flattens the prongs. I think it is used to staple material to bulletin boards, etc.

The best tool to use is a "flat cinch" stapler.

I'm too cheap to buy one, I just use a pair of needle-nose pliers.

I found them and have to be special-custom made. They will cost me $19.99 for one and here is a pic. The flat cinch pliers below is EXACTLY what I am looking for. It is made in Canada; just wish I could find a U.S. store that can make them for me.

Sorry, here are the rest of the pics. I don't like the staplers; the cinch pliers are more of what I was looking for. 20160214_Pliers_1_opt 3.jpg 20160214_Pliers_2_opt2.jpg 20160214_Pliers_1_opt 3.jpg 20160214_Pliers_2_opt2.jpg 20160214_Pliers_3_opt.jpg

Geez, Jason! That's a rip-off! You can get the flat cinch staplers for less than that at any Office Depot or Office Max.

Thanks, but the pics I included was exactly what I was looking for....they are just hard to find and most likely have to be custom made. I finally found someone and they are going to make (2) for me. I just have pay the postage. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!!!

Go to the dollar store and pay $1 for a pair of pliers as wide a as typical staple. It's cheap, exercises your hand, and has been the way to go for decades. You'll save some money for more coins. ;)

Sorry man...I am getting 2 for 1 special and they are what I wanted. The flat cinch staplers are cool too; but not what I am looking for. Thanks for the information tho.

Not a reality I'll argue against, but in this case, "clinch" is commonly used, is not incorrect, and is quite reasonable.

Regular every day pliers, used across/against the staple, will provide the same result. It's certainly your choice though...

If you insist on such a contraption for such a simple job, why not go for the gold and save a few bucks as well?
