With these, My Uncle asked me to post these to get your opinions on what they are and if they are real. I have very little to no experience in ancients to know much but even with my limited knowledge Im going to say they are reproductions but want your opinions and even if they are fake a little info on what they are. I appreciate your time and insight, thank you

    Eric,

I think it's suspicious that all the coins have a similar hole on them, almost as if was jewelry coinage. I won't speak about the rest, but the first coin (Emperor Vespasian) does not look right to me at all.

For comparison, the first is the obverse of your coin: ancient2.jpg

Compare it to the obverse of this other Vespasian, a real one, and see what I mean

    Vespasian Iovis.jpg

What jumps out to me is the following:

    1. The style of the writing on your coin is not very Roman-like.
    2. The rim on your coin looks too suspiciously machine made. Compare that to the irregular hand-made rim design that the ancient engraver made on mine.
    3. I'm not sold on the portrait on yours. It just looks off to me. I'm not a Vespasian expert by any means, but I have a weird feeling about it.
    4. Your flan is just too neat for a hand struck coin.

The Vespasian is a cast fake and I think the two medieval coins are as well.
As for the Augustus Denarius, I really can't see it well enough to determine it's authenticity.

I thought as much, even with limited ancient knowledge I had a feeling they were. They were in my uncles wifes dad collection. I told him I thought they were reproduction but he didnt listen to me so I posted for you guys to confirm. Thanks even though I will have to break the bad news to him lol.

Play this for your uncle. Maybe he'll get it after the fourth "It's a fake."
