Sure, Steve. Go ahead - I am sure Mikey won't mind. I have been putting my new R.R. coins up one at a time, recently, so there is no need for me to put them up again, but I do have some others.
This is my newest (last Saturday) RR denarius. It is not high grade or a spectacular type but it is a bit different with the reverse being a curile chair. Cybele hd rt - CESTIANVS Curile chair - M PLAETORIVS AED CVR EX SC The reverse left bears a minor type (not a T) I have not yet identified. The chair is appropriate since the moneyer was acting as curile aedile using silver provided by the Senate (EX SC). There are banker's marks on both sides. Plaetoria 3 Crawford 409/2 c.67 BC
A little different than many of the coins posted in this thread, a scarce quadrans of Cnaeus Gellius, whose denarii have already been posted a few times: Roman Republic Æ quadrans(18.3 mm, 6.16 g, 11 h). Cnaeus Gellius, moneyer, 138 B.C. Rome mint. Head of young Hercules right, wearing lion's skin headdress, three pellets behind / CN·GEL, prow of galley right, three pellets below. ROMA below. Very few RR sestertii are identified with letters. Here's a remarkable specimen demonstrating one such instance, L (= Luceria) below Roma's head. Off the top of my head, ROMA monogram on the reverse is the only other instance of this.
After seeing all these fabulous pictures I'm almost ashamed to admit I only have two Roman Republic denarii. I'm going to have to do something soon to remedy that.
SX6, Post something different that what has been posted. Like the Canadian ceramics I saw today when I was looking for coins. Not sure why they popped up, but I liked em & thought you should use one for your avatar.
