For as much as I bash the Mint, I will tip my hat to them on this set. They actually found a way to be me excited for a product that has a SAC dollar in it. I'll be ordering the max on this one. It took them a while but June is finally a strong month with quality product offerings with nice designs. http://catalog.usmint.gov/american-1-coin-and-currency-set-2016-16RA.html?cgid=product-schedule
This was flippable a few years ago, but they kept raising the mintage. Last years was a flop, and this years should be too. I am passing.
I'll buy the HHL of 5, they make cool, inexpensive gifts and even though last years was a flop, everyone I gave one to last year loved them.
I'm not worried about it on this one. I actually really like this one and looks like they knocked the packaging out of the park on it. I could see this one being more popular and its nice to see WW1 finally get some recognition on coins, but either way a cheap set that looks nice.
anyone know whether these have a single edge position like 2015 or double positions like 2014? the fact that some wanted both in 2014 contrbuted to the frenzy for that year.
I am a flipper, and will not be buying. Last year's set were dead on arrival, and these should be too.
I was in for the last few years but I really don't know if it is worth the space it would take up in my safe.
At 75k and only $14.95, I'm buying 5 to put away for the grandkids, but probably not a great one to flip for immediate large profits. Just think, if we all bought 5 or more and put them away, with only 75k out there, the price could skyrocket. Someday, they will all be put away in collections.
I bought three in 2014 and immediately sold one and recouped the cost of the three, so I still have two (one each position A and B) that are essentially free. Somehow totally missed out on the 2015 issue (rats, it was a W mint!), but I just ordered two of the 2016's.
Woops, 2015 just went to currently unavailable. Looks like others picked it up with the 2016 or the listing for sale was a mint error.
Got my 5. Somehow the mint website still didn't work for me for about 3 minutes before it finally realized my login ID was actually correct.
When did they do fine? They took forever to sell out from the mint, who would pay more than mint cost for them?
Pretty much everyone on ebay until the massive wave hits. Then just have to let that clear up a bit and usually does okay again. Plus there is a segment of buyers at this point that would rather just pay more on the aftermarket to see pictures of their actual set first then deal with the debacle of mint quality control
