fantasy money from video game lore. kind of like this stuff from skyrim... or game of thrones coins.. http://www.polyhedroncollider.com/2015/04/feel-like-iron-bank-of-bravos-with-game.html funny how the fantasy stuff looks liked milled modern coinage instead of hammered medieval coinage. Our @TIF does it right!
Ok, that would explain my lack of knowledge of the subject. The last time I ever played a video game was in 1998 when I sold my Super Nintendo off to buy US coins (That's when I started collecting coins). I've never really been interested in video games since then.
Hmm. I kinda want a One Zorkmid!! We had Zork on floppy disc with our family's first computer. I had no idea how to play it and probably never got past the first scene .
Man - here I was prepared to let the silliness continue with a posting of my own Zorkmid... Quendor Belwit the Flat, r. 688-701 GUE (699) AE Zorkmid Obv.: Bust Left, date and legend below Rev.: Castle Egreth, indeciferable legend below Ex. Camg As I said above, these are usually pretty crude. You see how poor the flan is on my example, and how the portrait is nearly worn, and a weak strike on the reverse.
I've got one of these zorkmids as well. Really a great piece to own if you're a Zork fan and a numismatist.
The Devil made me do it...better in ancient coins than in bullion or some such place, they might have lynched me...
ahaha ... those are awesome (in a very geeky way) => speakin' of geekin' ... I bought a set of these Lord of the Rings babies back in 2002 ... man, at times it's kinda hard to look at myself in the mirror
Reviving this thread because I lost the "Zorkmid" coin that came with my copy of Zork Trilogy and have been looking for one for a long time. If anyone out there has one for sale, let me know!
Never had a Zorkmid but played all the Zork games, and a few other Infocom titles, back in the day. Used to get a (real-paper-via-US-mail) newsletter from them. Thanks for the memories.
