Hallo my friends. I got this couple of Weimar coins today. It is 200 mark 1923 (Karlsruhe Mint) and 500 mark 1923 (Stuttgart Mint). 200 mark - Aunc, 500 mark - Unc. I like them wery much.
Just goes to show that aluminum coins can be attractive...at least when they are new. Now about conserving older ones...
Did that summer ever come? Over here it's not cold but lousy these days. As for those two coins, they basically used Josef Wackerle's design of the 3 Mark coins (1922/23). And of course they became worthless due to the hyperinflation very fast: When the 200M coin was issued, it had a purchasing power of about 4 Pfennig in pre-inflation terms; a little later the 500M came out, "worth" about 6 Pf. When production ended in August 1923, that value had gone down to 0.00025 and 0.00063 Pfennig. Many of these were actually sold as scrap metal ... Christian
