Is that a legitimate PCI slab? It doesn't look like others I've seen. Although their grading isn't stellar I find it hard to believe that even they would put something that egregious in a problem free slab.

It looks like their current slab though I have never bothered to look at those closely enough to say if that is real or not. Being on collectors corner I would assume it is real and the dealer feels it is real, needless to say I can't imagine they get much business these days.

As an aside, the PCI labels/Inserts can really produce some beautiful toning on coins. I've seen or owned some real eye candy over the years in these slabs...... Silver Eagles with rainbow toning in these slabs bring moon money on eBay..... I've seen Morgan's and wheatbacks with some very nice color too

Back to the original post, I would love to say those are die polish lines but, it's pretty obvious the coin has been scrub a dub dubbed

I think it's the new slab after DLRC bought the company. @Conder101 would probably know.

I'm gonna buy it and use the grade guarantee. Cha-ching!

I'm somewhat inept when it comes to IDing cleaned coins but even I can tell that it looks like someone steel wooled the poor thing!

For reference, I found an article indicating that DLRC bought PCI eight years ago. What's been the overall effect, if any, since then?

And since sold it, when DLRC owned it they changed the name to Dominion

Apparently things didn't exactly go as planned for DLRC.

PCI has devolved into trash in recent years. No respect for them.

They were very tough on grading, I had a few coins that I cracked out sent to PCGS and received the correct grade.
I still have some in DGS slabs.
    I still get a kick out of this one. 1976S PR69DC 25c labled 50C-horz.jpg

Unfortunately, I was unable to find anything resembling a "guarantee" on their website. They're at least that smart.

That is from I believe the third owner since DLRC owned the company. It has been sold twice since DLRC sold it. I don't believe I have one of that companies holders. I might bid on that one. (Current bid is only $10. It is a piece of junk, and the auction ends tomorrow. Just might get it for a reasonable price.)

See? Even roadkill has value, if you're a forensic veterinarian. :)
