i have hand written flips. i feel sorry for who inherits my coin and has to read them.

this is my old coin album from when i started. note the flips also has staples, which scare me now...didn't know at the time. it's mostly old stuff i cleaned up from uncleaned lots.

here's my modern album, im starting to use clear flips from these coins now as well...

here's "old gnarly". he's the staging area for new coin that haven't been photographed and "flipped yet" and for coins i'm currently "fondling" or using. the coin in the flips i'm going to use in a display im making. two of the coin i just got today, see that greek coin with the snake wrapped around a lady..neat! i'll post soon(ish).

TypeCoin971793 Just a random guy on the internet

I use a slide box that would normally hold 2x2 slides for a slide projector. The coins are held in 2x2 envelopes as I want to be able to easily take out the coin and hold it.

again with the fricken flips!! (apparently I'm stuck in the 1960's) ...

=> my method enables easy sorting and awesome coin-viewing (sure, all you need is a cool big gun-safe to store dem winners!!)

... man, I can't imagine goin' back to 2x2 flips, but apparently that's still the way that most of you store and view your coins!? (oh well, I still have respect for a few of you)

    :D

I have pulled all my coins out of my flips... Tossed them all into a coffee can. More fun to pick thru them, and jingle like pocket change...

Well, all the pics and information are electronic files, no need to print...

wow ... now that certainly takes the fun out of collecting ancient coins, eh?!!

Hey dude, maybe you're right? => maybe looking at your ancient coins on your computer is the way to go? (why even buy them? .... maybe you should just merely collect neat ancient coin photos)

    Yah, I'm sorry => I love "hard-copy"

sadly, I may be bowing-out of this awesome hobby for a while (my life-stuff is over-taking my extra coin-cash-ness)

... but hey, I love you guys (it's gonna be difficult to back-out of this thingy)

Any chance we can turn you to the "even darker" side, Steve? The flips are awesome. You can put several coins on a page or tray instead of one, and absolutely wow anyone who cares :)

Before I head off to work....I think, as long as everyone is happy with their unique way of coin presentation/storage, so be it. I like Steve's idea too, we can all learn from one another. Since joining the club in March, I have learned a lot.

Like @stevex6 I save any relevant CoinTalk discussion, but I haven't printed it yet. It's all in my database...that I need to back up.

I think printing relevant CoinTalk discussions is a great idea. It adds interest to the coin.

I agree... I have been saving conversations, snippets, links, etc. since I have joined. Great info and reference materials. That is what I meant when I told @stevex6 that I have electronic files...

Sure...I'll let you know ahead of time. I've been meaning to as stop by one of their coin shows or events for a while now. However, the last few times I've been far too busy, but I'll make it happen in the next month or two. It would be nice to meet someone from here too.

Can anyone here recomend a database? So far I've been using a good old fashioned moleskin notebook and a 1920s fountain pen to record notes on each coin on the notebook, but I should probably update my methods by 100 years and embrace modern technology. Old fashioned might be fine now with 30 coins, but a pain when I get to 100+ coins.

I know some use Excel but I taught myself Access and make a crude database. It was a fun learning experience. I just followed a couple online tutorials to get it figured out.
