I have these two 1922-P Peace Dollars with a "stronger" relief on the reverse than others I've had, and I wanted to get all of your opinions on which one has the stronger relief, as I want to keep the better example. These appear to be later strikes, given the die deterioration, so it's probably not the best regular strike example out there. But for now, I have these two. They both have strong cartwheel luster on both sides. Also, on coin #1, the obverse shows spots. Are those aged milk spots? A couple days in acetone won't remove those spots, but I don't mind it too much. Coin #2 has the same thing but in different shapes. And, sorry if it's hard to tell from the pics. I tried to take the best pics I could. Thanks in advance! Coin #1 The dark area on the first pic below is not on the coin, it's a shadow/reflection of the camera or lamp. Coin #2
Coin 1 has the stronger reverse, Coin 2 the stronger obverse. 1's "spotting" has the appearance of postmint contact with something nasty to me; it doesn't resemble the typical Mint wash spotting. It's a shame; it's probably a strong 64 without that spotting, and I don't know if a TPG would give it a righteous slab with it.
Keep #1 but it's a common date and fairly inexpensive in higher grades. Find another and then sell this one.
