$99 1804 Dollar Anyone?

Found this on EBay while just searching around.

Did not report the item as I don't have EBay account. Looks like he is Russian from his other things he is selling. Thought all you would like this.

The lack of details in the design is suspicious. Probably a cast. At any rate, I may be an ancient coin collector, but even I know enough about the 1804 dollar that one selling for $99 would raise a bunch of red flags.

Unfortunately there will be people new to the hobby that will fall prey to such a con. These sellers are parasites to our community.

 

Apart from it bring a super rare issue, what got my attention was the edge. Looks like a bottlecap.

Same size & weight as a 2016 ASE. So pretty sure it's really silver.

 

I think APMEX had these on sale not long ago. Not sure if they are still selling them though. They are pretty.

 

They had plenty of the rounds on EBay, advertising them as older issues.

 

Well, they do have 'copy' stamped on the reverse so can't fault them too much.......

And eBay couldn't care less as long as they get their cut.

 

Yeah. These are pretty for bullion coins. Now if I had them I'd be tempted to try to tone them to look less new. Is no secret how I feel about blast white

 

Already has 1 bid at $99. Now is that someone who is just bidding knowing it is fake and not going to pay, or someone bidding to get a fake item(sometimes if you report it to ebay or paypal you get your money back and get to keep it) or is it someone thinking they are going to get rich.

 

Has anyone beside myself bothered to report it?
