This note was found with the Confederate note that I also posted. I have some information on this one but was wondering what you think the grade would be? This is the first large note that I have had in my hands. I may have to start collecting some more of these. Thanks.
Classic WoodChopper note. I would guess it grades Fine. It probably has zero crispness left, many heavy folds, but evenly circulated. The center vignette and portrait of Jackson has been around since the $5 series 1869, continued for series 1875, 1878, 1880, and finally 1907. Grade it if you like, but at least get it into a mylar currency sleeve.
I'd say very good based on the wear. Good thing I can see is no rips, tears, repairs or holes. Steve in correct, grade if you like but protect it by putting it into a mylar currency holder.
