    I know that after Septimius died, Caracalla had her put to death. I've also heard that he had a daughter with her, he is said to have also had her killed. And she was just an infant! :jawdrop:

    I don't care what anyone says, Caracalla was one cool dude. Have you seen the size of his baths? Check out that handsome bearded dude bathing in the caldarium, isn't that our glorious Imperator Caracalla?

    People are just mad he knew how to take care of business. Sure, he did execute a deputation of the top leaders from Alexandria, but that was their fault for letting a play be performed that depicted Caracalla as a blood thirsty tyrant.

    Any man who liked the God Serapis couldn't have been that bad!

    If I remember correctly, this "cool dude" had Plautilla starved to death. I think the child as well.

    Strangled I think. I heard that Julia Domna either starved herself to death or was poisoned by Caracalla, she had breast cancer.

    Julia Domna starved herself to death after Macrinus kicked the Severan's out of Rome and back to their native Syria.

    Nice posts (very nice OP coin, indeed)

    Here's an innocent portrait of the just married young dude

    This denarius is "twined" with it's equivalent for Plautilla, showing the same reverse. They both have been minted AD 202 on the occasion of their marriage.

    As well as a more mature one (14 years later). He looks like he's thinking : "have I really done that ? Well, what the heck, I don't care"

    It could have happened like that, or maybe Plautilla died of natural causes and the rest is political slander. Let's be honest, the history of many of these Emperors were written by their political enemies. Ancient writers were sponsored by wealthy senators who disliked a previous Emperor, or by emperors of newer dynasties who wanted to contrast themselves with previous dynasties to make their own family look better.

    Probably half or more of what we think we know about some of these people are made up inventions by their enemies.

    Wow, Eminem (M&M?) ==> that's a fantastic Caracalla OP-score (congrats)

    Ummm, if you want "innocent" then I guess this cute lil' guy playin' with his boat is pretty sweet, eh? ...

    That is sometimes true, but we actually have evidence to back up the historians claims on Caracalla. Ex Defaced coins and statues of Geta support the statement that Caracalla killed Geta and then issued Damnatio memoriae.

    I would give up my right arm for this coin. No matter how many times you show it, it never gets old.

    Brutus and the Gang should have planned a little better when they went Medieval on Caesar! LOL Poor PR and Marketing on their part... :D
