Today I found a nearly B.U. Shawnee quarter while roll searching that has the edge reeding up on the left rim to the east on the obverse. My pic quality is not good but can anyone tell me how this might happen in the minting process? Is it what they call a tilted collar strike ( just a wild guess on this. )
Tommy, if you have those lockable, plastic tongs that are used for dipping coins, you can use them to stand the coin on its edge to take a good photo of it allowing both hands to be free to hold the camera. Chris
I used to have a nice one ( tongs) for my stamp collecting along with a perforation gauge but I can't find either. I got a bit excited about it when I posted so I'll give it a try somehow. Sorry about no photo so for now let's just consider this a dead thread until I can figure something out. Thanks folks!
