My other account is still in use. Nothing happened to it...my Dad and I had been using the same account (wisechoicepc) to sell his computers and my coins for a while. We decided to branch out and he is now using the old account (wisechoicepc) and I use the new one (toplinedmpls). I never had any problems like this before. I do not misrepresent my coins and I've never received a complaint as such before. Check out the feedback: http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback2&userid=wisechoicepc&ftab=AllFeedback

How does one explain to two parties that are both head strong that several faux-pas were committed on this transaction wittingly or unwittingly by both parties. You see both parties are right and both are wrong.
DJCoins should have a return policy. Arizona Jack was entirely too blunt in his e-mail to DJCoins. Being preemptive in 'testing the limits of coersive diplomacy' makes it harder to satisfy both parties.
The more important question is now what?
My suggestion is for DJ Coins to take the coin back. Arizona Jack needs to apologize for being so quick on the trigger. Cooler heads need to prevail.
There are no winners ever in public squabbles. Neither party benifits.

Yes, that photo worked. Also I want to say that those photos look ALOT better than the ones in the auction. If I was bidding on the coin I would MUCH rather see these photos and would more than likely be more likely to go higher $$ if there were the photos...

gotta admit, the headlines/descriptions are a bit deceptive.

    the headline reads:1881 S MORGAN MS65 PL/DMPL GEM TRENDS $300 - $900
first thought is that an ms65 dmpl is for sale, and the price range is given as a courtesy. an alternate point of view is that what's listed is an 1881 s morgan, and the price range and grade are unrelated and added for extra hype.

    now, here's the ad:
"For sale is a stunning 1881 S Morgan Dollar and it is an awesome PL/DMPL gem. What you see is what you get...take a moment to check out the pictures and you will see this coin has awesome mirror-like fields and a sharp strike. Please decide for yourself whether this coin is PL or DMPL. It trends over $300 in MS65PL, and over $900 in MS65DMPL. Reserve is less than $200!!"

first, it specifically says the item is a pl/dmpl gem. then it says to decide for yourself. the price quotes are tossed in again for good measure.

i personally don't believe these are good business practices. you're bound to have more such complaints in the future if listings like these are repeated. when your listings are more accurate, clear, free of misleading hype, and include good return policies, you'll definitely attract more bidders who'll bid higher.

I wont say more than that I would not have been happy with the coin as it was sold and as it is...SaMiguel said what I was thinking.

An 1881-S MS65DMPL lists for $850. Did you really think you were going to get an $850 coin for $150? It's always best to follow the #1 rule for consumers. "If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is".

I would also submit, that when you keyword spam or include deceptive-ish things like TRENDS $300 - $900 then you attracting a certain type of bidder. One that might be more likely to send you a threatening e-mail when the coin that shows up doesn't look like the one in the auction. Let's face it, you add things like TRENDS $300 - $900 to attract no-so-knowledgeable bidders. I would assume most of the people that read this board, when they see a title like that, raise their eyebrows, chuckle to themselves and move to the next listing.

When you list items designed to attract less savvy eBayers, don't be surprised when that's what you get.

so what you are saying is that a savy buter wouldnt fall for the deceptive tactics?

Heck, those pictures, anyone could have fallen for.

A savvy bidder would be less likely to fall for those tactics, yes. That being said, I don't let the keyword spamming affect my interest on whether or not to bid. If I'm looking for a specific coin, I'll open the auction check the coin myself, and then look at the sellers terms. For raw coins, I personally only bid on auctions with a great return policy. No one can accurately grade from a compressed internet photo, but if the sellers terms and feedback are favorable, I'll always givehim/her a shot. I have returned many dozens of coins to sellers with great return policies. I'm usually out the shipping, but I'd rather lose $10 in shipping and be happy with the experience/seller than the $160+ the OP layed out only to feel angry enough to sign-up and post here.

good advice probably...certainly ebay is buyer beware and everyone should know this going in...that being said. Even if one could say a buyer should have been more carefull going in, deceptive remains deceptive.

How do you know that...you have not even seen it in hand.
What do you mean by that? It was an auction. Not a buy it now. The bidders set the price.
I do not use deceptive tactics. This coin does trend $300 in MS65PL and $900 in MS65DMPL.
"Fallen for"? I see the same mirroring in both sets of photos. I also saw the same mirroring on the coin when it was in hand. I had to go looking for these other photos I posted here...if I'd looked for them before I would have used them for the auction but I had apparently stashed them away in a far back subfolder. For comparison:

    [IMG][IMG]

    [IMG][IMG]

Is it just me? I see the same mirroring and PL qualities in both sets. Jack told me just this morning that he knows it is PL...but for a reason I cannot understand he believes it is AU. I had this coin for 6 months before I just sold it to him and there is most definitely no wear on it, but he thinks otherwise.

whenever i see an e-bay listing touting price guide values, i only pay attention to them when what i'm bidding on is slabbed by one of two companies. especially when the values for each point above 60 equates to hundred of dollars.

He only found cointalk because I had a link to it in my [IMG][IMG] page.
I do not misrepresent my coins. Everyone knows that grading is subjective, but there is a huge jump between AU58 and MS65PL. I am not going to change my grade opinion, but I am going to work with Jack at finding a suitable conclusion for this matter.

Which is exactly what I do when I buy. The prices I list are for reference only. I do not expect to sell them for that much even if they are slabbed. I don't think there's anything wrong with putting the priceguide list price for your grade opinion in the auction.
