Bulk wheatie dealers sometimes throw a key/semi-key into random lots in order to get those finds posted in their ebay feedback, to bait other buyers. The total cash they make selling wheats at ridiculous prices makes up for it in the long run. No opinion on this particular case though.
@@BeArJaWjAcK Please post a close up of the "CE" in "Cent" and the "T" also. Turn the coin in the light so the top of the revers is at 3 o'clock and at 9 o'clock and perhaps we can authenticate it for you. I'm unaware of any genuine 1955/55 with these die breaks. Second request. Trying to save you some money. SO FAR, from the two photos you posted and not seeing the reverse images I requested: IMHO the coin is 100% counterfeit. Sorry about that.
There's no way they're not sending it in @Insider. The thrill was too great and, emotionally, they need to see what a tpg says. We can all offer our best advice but 100:1 says it's at least going to anacs very soon.
Please tell us why you are 100% sure the coin is counterfeit. What about the obverse is telling you that? I understand that we need the reverse images.
1. Read my Post#26, for the obverse and the fact that IF this is a genuine 55/55 it is a VLDS (before they broke) as NO ONE TO MY KNOWLEDGE has ever reported/seen the die breaks on the obverse of this coin. That's why if genuine it should be worth $$$$ to a specialist. 2. Virtually all 55/55 coins have a grove around their entire obverse circumference. Additionally, very many of them have a very tiny break in that groove (it moves) often near the IGWT area. EDIT: Just went back and looked. Under Lincoln's bust is the start of the type of groove I mentioned. It should have continued all up the right side. Therefore, w/o seeing the reverse - two strikes and it's C/F and a decent one at that! Hope that helps.
Not that it matters cuz I'm not lincoln specific but my first gut reaction after a few seconds of looking at it was that it's an Ali coin. It just has that untouched yet circulated type look. The look that says this didn't happen.naturally blah blah blah but again what do I know. Haven't looked at thousandS and thousands of wheats like others. I say send it to anacs for under $50 total with shipping etc. Although I find it suspect that the op or his friend haven't either checked online for pics of the markers and go buy a loupe quickly to check themselves and report back or used their smartphone to take the best pics they could of the areas and post them. Heck, they didn't even post reverse pics. Usually with legit theads like these the op does whatever they can to get the best pics we ask for asap. Seems odd is all I'm saying
When I had the coin, taking the picture, I first should have looked up what I'm looking for. I did look for the die marker on the obverse and It was there.. I should've gotten shots of the reverse . I will try to get pics to post myself or see if he will. I know I would've alrealy, reguardless of what the croud says. Either way, I will will find out

Impossible to verify a story like this but I can list some of my finds. These have come out of bag lots purchased OTC and from other dealers........ 1922 Plain Lincoln cent VG10 1937 D Buffalo 3-legged. F-12 (2) 1942/1 Dimes VF35, VF20 (3) 1942/1 Dimes VF. VF. XF (6) 1943/2 Nickels. VG-XF Those are just the high lites. Never found a '55 Doubled die or a 1909 S VDB.
What is the consequence if a counterfeit coin is sent to a TPG? Do they confiscate it? Turn it over to the Secret Service? Anyway, I say that because the bust of Honest Abe just doesn't look honest to me. I am not saying it's counterfeit or genuine but the coin is questionable and more research is needed to determine its genuineness.
