I'm not a fan of half-grades (i.e. + grades) and don't think they're needed. However, looking through the pop reports of NGC and PCGS, + grades seem to stop at 68+. Is my perception correct? Are there any grading services that use 69+? Cal
I doubt that one of the basement slabbers would ever use it. They'd just give the coin a 70 anyway. Chris
Neither PCGS nor NGC use the grade 69+. That is not to say that in the future there isn't going to be some perceived need to split that hair.
This leaves me pondering the question, "Should you allow toning on a 69 or a 70?" That's not "as struck."
How about black & blue beans for lowballs. Blue means solid for the grade and black means a grade lower. As I'm writing this it was more of a lark but now that I'm done it seems like something they might actually consider doing in the future. Although it might add a bit too much confusion
